Volunteering with SBP

Thank you for your interest in volunteering! 

In Tampa, volunteers support our long-term recovery efforts for families impacted by disasters through hands-on repair and rebuilding projects that help homeowners return to safe, sanitary, and secure living conditions. Because much of this work requires detailed construction tasks, in-person opportunities are often best suited for individuals or groups of 10 or fewer.

Traditional volunteer opportunities are not currently available in New Orleans. Current SBP partners or organizations interested in customized engagement opportunities may submit this interest form noting their interest in the comments section. Opportunities are limited and reserved for select partners supporting SBP's mission.

Things to know:  

Qualifications:

  • Individuals and groups ages 14 and up are welcome

  • Ages 14–15: A parent or guardian must be on-site and sign a waiver

  • Ages 16–17: A chaperone (18+) must be on-site; a parent/guardian must sign a waiver

  • A minimum chaperone-to-minor ratio of 1:5 is required at all times

No construction experience is necessary. Volunteers may assist with various phases of construction, including:

  • Demolition

  • Light framing

  • Insulation

  • Mold remediation and suppression

  • Drywall, mudding, and priming

  • Painting

  • Flooring, trim, doors, and final punch work

All training, safety instruction, gear, and supervision are provided.
